 | 1970年神奈川生まれ。中学の時、顔見知りのホームレス男性が同じ中学生に殺害されたことから 「子どもにとっての自然の必要性」について考えるようになる。 高校時代に登山と素潜りを始め、一眼レフカメラを購入。19歳のとき「都会の自然とそこで遊ぶ子たち」をテーマに初の写真展を開催。沖縄国際大学で沖縄戦聞き取り調査などを専攻後、撮影活動を始める。シーカヤックから冬山登山までアウトドア全般をこなす。 1997年、ダムに沈む森と出会い、7年間・年200日以上、足掛け10年を森のテントで暮らしながら撮影。 以降も一貫して沖縄と琉球弧から、人と自然のいのちについて発信を続ける。 主な写真集に、沖縄の森を深く見つめた「神人の祝う森」「SEDI」、北海道の野生生物を撮った「Northern Circle」などがある。 映画・映像分野でも作品を発表。 ドキュメンタリー映画「RIVER」(2009)は、国際短編映画祭 Shortshorts Film Festival＆AsiaにてJ-WAVEアワードと観客賞を受賞、短編映画「Mother」(2017)は海外13ヶ国の映画祭で上映されている。 Born in Kanagawa, Japan in 1970. When he was in junior high school, a familiar homeless man was killed by a student of his generation, and he began to think about “the need for nature for children.” Started mountain climbing and skin diving in high school and purchased a single-lens reflex camera. At the age of 19, he held his first photo exhibition under the theme of “Urban Nature and Children Playing There”. After majoring in the Battle of Okinawa at Okinawa International University, he started working as a photographer. He is an excellent outdoor man who handles a wide range of activities from sea kayaking to winter mountain climbing. In 1997, he met the soul of the forest, and since then, he has been shooting for more than 200 days a year, living in a forest tent for 10 years. The work is summarized in the photo book “Hamincyu no iwau mori” (2020). Since then, he has consistently sent a message from his beloved Ryukyu Islands about the connection between nature and humans. In 2020, he published a photo book “Celebrated Forest” that stared at the forest to the limit. This book has a mythical side. It is a content that seeks the source of humans and nature.
